What It Means to Be Unfiltered

Brian Watson

Welcome to Unfiltered: Your new destination for fresh, provocative views on cybersecurity leadership and strategy.

I’m Brian Watson, the community director for Unfiltered. I spent half my career as a journalist and editor, carefully listening to CIOs, CISOs, CTOs and other leaders, and analyzing the trends that were driving them. For the past decade, I’ve been a consultant and advisor to many IT leaders – several of whom you’ll meet in the Unfiltered community.

The most rewarding part of both experiences has been the trust those leaders have put in me to bring them together in meaningful, collaborative ways. And when we do, we rip off the Band-Aids and have open, honest conversations about how we can, as a community, do better. That’s what drives my team and me at Unfiltered.

As a former journalist, I know that you can find plenty of breaking news in security and technology around the web. But where can you really hear what your top peers are thinking?

We built Unfiltered to bring you those unvarnished perspectives.

If you’re looking for new ideas on how to approach the evolving threat landscape, how to present to your board, or how to build the security architecture of the future, Unfiltered is for you.

Compelling, provocative content. Check.

But there’s more: Unfiltered is also a collaborative community, where we’ll be engaging in thought-provoking discussions about those topics, and more.

Our meetings are not the “conferences” you’re used to. There won’t be keynote speakers talking down to you from a stage. There won’t be long panels with just a few minutes of Q&A (if you’re lucky).

Our sessions are dynamic and interactive—everyone is a participant. Our discussion leaders will guide the way, but your voices are the ones that matter most.

You probably noticed the megaphone logo. Grab it. Use it. If you’d like to share your ideas, talk to us about writing a blog post. If you want to connect with and learn from your peers, come to our meetups.

We look forward to collaborating with you. All we ask is that you stay Unfiltered!
